I WILL TRUST IN GOD

Phyllis Lowe

Put not your hope in man, but rest your faith in God

Who holds us in the shelter of His arms, yes, trust,

That He will lead us day by day, through all this wilderness

Of uncertainty and fluctuating facts.

We must hold fast and trust in God; nor waver in our faith

That He will soon return to claim His own.

This world, this earth, is not our final home.

Nothing stands secure but our dear God of Love,

 In love and constant reach by prayer, our Father stands,

Waiting, as we cast our cares and fears on Him.

Remember as you lie down and you rise, His words—

“Fear not, for I AM with you.  I will help you, I will keep you,

I will uphold you with my Righteous Right Hand.”

He, who sees the sparrow, and knows each blossom’s face,

Has so declared that “Ye are of more value than many sparrows.”

He has promised that the hairs of our head are numbered,

A fact too marvelous to imagine, then He says that “Lo,

I am with you always, even until the end of the age.”

And would He who loved us enough to send His only Son, Jesus,

Would He forget us, or lose His caring, He who sent His Son

To lowly earth, from all the glory of Heaven?  Sent to become a little child,

To be born in a stable, without riches or position; not a phantom of our imaginations,

Not a fable with a sled and reindeer, but a real flesh and blood baby

Was the gift He sent.

His mission was simple; it was not to condemn us, but to save us.

His requirements were simple, believe on Him and totally receive Him,

As Son of God, and Savior that He came to be.

He walked in perfect, complete obedience to the Heavenly Father,

And when all had been fulfilled, He quietly submitted Himself

To die on a cross, to die in place of me!

Holy Blood, given by a sinless life, an offering, a substitute for all

Who would believe and ask Jesus, Son of God to save them;

Blood so Holy that it cleanses eternally, the sacrifice God gave in place of me.

The Blood of Jesus!  Would He, who shed that Blood and lives forever forget me?

Forget me? Or you?  Oh, No, in a million years, No!

Be still, reach out and touch Him with your prayers and feel His nearness.

Be quiet and for a time be there with Him to hold you close.

Be reminded that the One who died for you, will give you grace to live,

And move and have your being in Him.  No matter that wars or rumors of wars,

Nor threats or fears assail you; nothing can tear you from His love.

He, who is Jehovah Jireh, will provide; He, who is Jehovah Rapha, will heal.

He, who is Jehovah Nissi, our banner will go before us;

He who is Jehovah Shalom is our Peace.

He is Jehovah Shammah, present with us.  He is Jehovah Tsidkenu, our Righteousness

And He, who is the Lord, our Shepherd will guide us through the wilderness of life.

In His Book, Psalm 57, He has written through His Holy Spirit a prayer:

          “Be Gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me,

For my soul takes refuge in Thee;

And in the shadow of Thy wings I will take refuge

Until destruction passes by.

I will cry unto God Most High

To God who accomplishes all things for me.

He will send from Heaven and save me;

He reproaches him who tramples upon me.

 God will send forth His loving kindness and His truth

The in verse 7-11:

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast;

I will sing and give praise.

Awake, my glory!

Awake lute and heart!

I will awaken the dawn.

I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples;

I will sing to You among the nations.

For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens,

And Your truth unto the clouds.

-----Be exalted above the heavens, O God;

Let Thy glory be above all the earth.”

I WILL TRUST IN GOD!
