"O God . . . my soul thirsteth for Thee, my flesh longeth for Thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is. . . . Because Thy loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise Thee. . . . I bless Thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in Thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise Thee with joyful lips: When I remember Thee upon my bed, and meditate on Thee in the night watches. Because Thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of Thy wings will I rejoice" (Psalm 63:1-7). "Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. . . . Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. . . . .Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. . . . Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation. . . . The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise." (Psalm 51).
