A GRANDMOTHER'S PRAYER

Phyllis Lowe

Thank you Lord God for giving us great riches,

We have first of all, YOU, the Giver of Life, Saver of Souls

Father, Savior and Holy Ghost,

Redeemer of the Lost, Repairer of the Breach,

Lover of my Soul.

Thank You for mercies past,

Given when I didn't see them.

Thank You for kindness and protection,

That were mine before I knew to ask.

Thank you for Your Love, given through my husband,

A tender man of gentle ways.

Thank you for needing me through my family.

Thank you for making me appreciated.

Thank you for hands that can cook and clean,

For arms that can carry, hug and comfort,

For feet that can walk,

On a pleasant day.

Thank you for little feet walking beside me,

For small little fingers wrapped around mine,

Trusting, secure,

As we go on our way.

Thank you for sun and thank you for rain,

Thank you for breeze, on a hot summer's day.

Thanks when the car starts on winter cold mornings,

Thanks for the truck for our business, too.

Thank you for angels, to keep us all safe,

Thank you for healing us almost every day.

Thank you for loving all of us too,

Thank you for comforting me, when I'm blue.

Thank you for faithfully staying with me

When I grow discouraged and Faith cannot see.

When it takes much longer to see a prayer done,

And my patience grows short before the thing's won.

Thank you for air and the water I drink,

For plumbing indoors and for bathrooms and sinks.

Thank you for work, to pay the bills,

To give back the tithe with a grateful heart.

Thank you for extra to give away,

Thank you for Faith that you'll do what you say.

Thank you for good friends, one of your sweet pleasures,

Who give us good treasures all through the years.

Thank you for the times when he looks at me

And I look at him,

For hands touching mine across the table in prayer,

For the hug that gladdens my soul.

Thank you for all the years, the good and the hard,

Thank you for life itself,

Thank you for thank yous, coming so fast,

That there's just no end, and I just cannot last.

So, I'll put down my pen and turn out the light

And I'll thank you for sleep

And then call it a night.

True riches!  Thank you Lord.
